‘Classic Cafe Menu’ at the Blue Moose Through Mid-December

The Blue Moose in East Grand Forks is featuring a “classic cafe menu” until December 12, but don’t worry if you’re a regular, the entire main menu is still on, too.

A few days ago, a friend and I tried out two of the offerings on the cafe menu, the Diner Burger and the Country Fried Pork Steak and were pretty happy with the dishes. The burger is grilled on the flat top and comes with American cheese and fried onions. You also get a strawberry, vanilla or chocolate malt.

I thought the burger was simple in a good way. I wasn’t asked for my cooking preference on the patty, so I thought it was a bit over-cooked but still tasty.

My friend thought the pork steak was delicious. It’s rolled in seasoned bread crumbs, fried and topped with both sausage gravy and fried over easy egg.

The cafe menu also has fried chicken and waffles, meatloaf and mashed potatoes, chicken pot pie and carrot cake.

Also of note:  With UND hockey playing at home, Rhombus Guys have a deal where you can get free cheesy bread if you order pizza when the game is going on or after, until close. There’s a tater tot hot hotdish pie waiting for you and – even better – a Thanksgiving pizza on Monday.
